Position Title: Research Project Coordinator
Employment Status: Part-Time (20 hours/week)
Position Summary:
The Foundation for Atlanta Veterans Education and Research, Inc. is looking for a dedicated Research Project Coordinator to support Dr. Erica Duncan's research team within the VA Mental Health Department.
The selected candidate will assist the Principal Investigator in managing the daily operations of multiple research studies, which will include but are not limited to the following responsibilities:
- Conducting clinical research coordination tasks, including participant recruitment, informed consent, screening, and medical record analysis.
- Collaborating closely with the Principal Investigator to strategize all research coordination activities and processes.
- Breaking down project tasks and delegating them to the appropriate team members.
- Serving as the primary contact for other research sites.
- Managing the research project budget and ensuring all expenditures align with the financial plan.
- Monitoring project timelines and ensuring adherence to established schedules and objectives.
- Assisting with Institutional Review Board (IRB) and regulatory documentation as necessary.
- Ensuring compliance with research protocols by reviewing case report forms and auditing for accuracy against source documents.
- Documenting all research project processes and standard operating procedures for future reference and recommending improvements.
- Providing mentorship to junior and new clinical research coordinators and overseeing clinical research activities in the absence of the Principal Investigator.
- Identifying and coordinating pharmacy needs related to the study, including tracking orders for study medications.
In the event that staff is unavailable, the incumbent may also act as the primary contact for other research activities.
Additionally, the role may involve leading efforts to identify and complete research grants, develop study materials, and submit grant proposals.
Key Responsibilities:
- Participant Interaction (40%): Engaging with research participants and performing related tasks, including specimen collection per protocol, follow-up care, and communication with the Principal Investigator and healthcare providers.
- Data Quality Assurance (40%): Ensuring the integrity of study data, collaborating with partners for data inquiries, and participating in compliance audits.
- Mentorship and Training (20%): Training other study coordinators, maintaining training documentation, and serving as a liaison for protocol compliance.
Minimum Qualifications:
Education: A Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in a scientific, health-related, or business administration field, or a valid nursing license in the State of Georgia.
Experience: A minimum of 4 years in research administration or related study experience, with a preference for those with hands-on experience in research activities.
Specific Skills: Exceptional attention to detail, strong organizational capabilities, and proficient communication skills. Comfort with MS Office and other technological platforms is essential. A friendly demeanor is crucial for engaging with the veteran population positively. The ability to meet time-sensitive goals independently and within a team is required.
Certifications: Certification as a Research Associate (CRA) or Clinical Research Coordinator (CRC) is preferred.
