Job SummaryThe Certified Medication Assistant serves as a caregiver who provides resident-centered nursing care and daily living assistance to assigned residents under the supervision of a charge nurse. This role requires knowledge of and delivery of age-appropriate care related to the physical and psychological needs of the resident as per plan of care.
Responsibilities- Assist residents with daily living activities, including bathing, toileting, grooming, dressing/undressing, and obtaining and recording vital signs.
- Provide psycho-social support and other personal care to assigned residents.
- Assist residents with meals and snacks, and provide water and supplements as appropriate.
- Administer prescribed medications as delegated by a licensed nurse and within their scope of practice as defined by state regulations.
- Document the outcomes related to resident care, medication administration, behavior, activity, and dietary.
- Communicate changing conditions, medication follow-up, and care-related concerns/responses to the charge nurse.
- Collect non-invasive body fluid specimens and gather vital signs.
- Provide housekeeping and laundry services to assist residents with keeping living areas clean and operational.
- Participate in departmental/organization committees and task forces as needed.
To be successful in this role, you will need:
- A high school graduate or general equivalency diploma (GED) preferred, but not required.
- A minimum age of 18 preferred.
- Prior clinical or nursing assistant experience in long-term care preferred.
- Satisfactory completion of yearly department-specific competency testing and maintenance of a record of continuing education credits for each year.
- A minimum of 12 hours continuing education are required annually based on state requirements.
- Maintenance of all department-specific required certifications.
