Job Summary

The Feed Mill Maintenance Technician is responsible for ensuring the smooth operation of feed mill equipment. This includes performing routine maintenance tasks, troubleshooting issues, and implementing preventative maintenance programs.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct daily maintenance work activities in assigned equipment areas and set up additional work maintenance schedules as needed.
  • Follow standard operating maintenance instructions and procedures to perform maintenance tasks, including replacing, adjusting, and installing feed mill equipment.
  • Develop and implement a thorough cost-effective preventative maintenance program to minimize downtime and reduce maintenance-related issues.
  • Monitor and maintain all feed mill equipment, ensuring that all procedures are properly followed during repairs.
  • Establish or adjust maintenance work procedures and schedules to meet production schedules.
  • Manage critical parts inventory based on usage and maintenance activity needs.
  • Perform housekeeping duties as requested by the manager and maintain a safe working environment.

Requirements

  • High school diploma and 1 year of successful industrial maintenance experience required.
  • Ability to perform troubleshooting, repair, and assembly of feed mill equipment.
  • Electrician license not required but helpful.
  • Ability to read and speak English, read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals, and read and interpret electrical schematics.
  • Experience in pneumatic systems, including compressors, cylinders, and solenoid valve troubleshooting and maintenance, and experience in liquid systems, including positive displacement pumps (rebuilding), metering system calibration, automatic valves, and plumbing.
  • Ability to work well with others in a fast-paced, dynamic environment and be respectful, approachable, and team-oriented while building strong working relationships and a positive work environment.

Work Environment and Physical Demands

The Feed Mill Maintenance Technician will be regularly exposed to risk of electrical shock and will be required to stand, walk, use hands to handle or feel, reach with hands and arms, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl, and talk or hear. The team member must be able to lift and/or move up to 50 lbs and be supportive of the mission of producing high-quality pellet feed. The team member must also be able to work with and around a wide range of chemicals and different feed ingredients, tolerate grain dust, chemical odors, and frequently noisy conditions, and tolerate extreme ranges of seasonal temperatures (hot to cold).
