The YMCA of Pierce and Kitsap Counties is in search of a Rock Climbing Instructor to enhance our program offerings.

The YMCA is dedicated to empowering individuals through health and wellness initiatives, fostering community engagement, and inspiring action across our neighborhoods.

This role is essential to the mission of the Y, a prominent non-profit organization devoted to strengthening communities through youth development, healthy living, and social responsibility.

As a Rock Climbing Instructor, your primary responsibility will be to guide participants in climbing wall activities and classes. In this position, you will develop lesson plans that ensure a natural progression of skills while strictly adhering to safety protocols and creating an enjoyable atmosphere.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Design lesson plans that cater to the age and skill level of participants.
  • Lead and support participants in developing their climbing skills and engaging in activities.
  • Uphold all safety regulations at the climbing wall while fostering a fun and engaging environment.
Are you a suitable candidate?
  • You are dedicated to promoting diversity and fostering an inclusive environment.
  • You possess experience or education in recreation, physical education, or a related field.
  • Belay certification is preferred.
  • You maintain a positive demeanor and have experience working with youth and diverse groups.
  • You have knowledge of rock climbing techniques and equipment, along with the ability to instruct participants effectively.
  • CPR, First Aid, and AED certifications are preferred.
  • You are willing to complete required training, including Child Abuse Prevention training.
Compensation: $16.28 to $18.28 per hour, based on qualifications.

Work Schedule: Part-Time, up to 25 hours per week.
