Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and physically capable DPW Maintenance Worker to join our team at the City of Wauwatosa, WI. As a key member of our public works department, you will be responsible for performing a variety of tasks related to maintaining highways, municipal roads, sidewalks, alleys, and sewers, as well as operating heavy equipment and performing manual labor.

Key Responsibilities
  • Operate a wide range of heavy equipment, including front-end loaders, backhoes, street sweepers, and asphalt rollers.
  • Perform manual labor tasks, such as excavation, form setting, pouring, and finishing concrete and asphalt repairs.
  • Conduct routine maintenance and repairs on municipal vehicles and equipment.
  • Assist with snow removal and ice control operations during winter months.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.
Requirements
  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Two years of experience in heavy manual or semi-skilled labor preferred.
  • Prior experience in trade work, such as carpentry, plumbing, electrical, HVAC, roofing, custodial work, building maintenance, or masonry, strongly preferred.
  • Valid Wisconsin driver's license required.
  • Commercial Learner's Permit (CLP) must be obtained within one month of hire and Class B CDL must be obtained within six months of hire.
Working Conditions

Employees in this position will be required to work outdoors in a variety of weather conditions, including extreme temperatures, rain, and snow. They will also be required to lift and move heavy objects, and to operate heavy equipment in a safe and efficient manner.
