Biology Research Assistant Job Summary
Lampire Biological Laboratories is seeking a skilled Biology Research Assistant to join our team. As a Laboratory Animal Technician, you will be responsible for the care and well-being of small laboratory animals, including mice, rats, guinea pigs, and hamsters.
Key Responsibilities:
- Prepare and administer injections, perform bleeds, and process bleeds as required by the project.
- Maintain accurate and organized records of animal projects.
- Clean and maintain facilities inside and out on a daily basis.
- Observe and report signs of disease/illness and assist in treating minor cases.
Requirements:
- AALAS certification and familiarity with USDA and AAALAC regulatory requirements are a plus.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills (English) and mathematics skills are required.
- You must be a team player, like working with animals, and demonstrate a commitment to quality animal care.
- You must have the ability to comprehend, carry out, and relay multiple verbal and written instructions, including SOPs and study protocols.
- Windows-based computer skills, familiarity with Microsoft Word and Excel are essential.
- Good organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities are necessary.
Education and Experience:
- A minimum of a High School Diploma, Bachelor's Degree in a scientific field preferred.
- A minimum of 2 years' experience in a scientific field with a HS Diploma, 0-2 years with a Bachelor's Degree.
Estimated Salary: $60,000 - $80,000 per year
Working Conditions:
This position is moderately active and requires standing, walking, bending, and moving throughout the lab. The employee will need to be able to lift and/or move items up to 50 pounds.
