Job Title: Certified Nursing Assistant

We are seeking a skilled and compassionate Certified Nursing Assistant to join our team at Fillmore County Hospital. As a CNA, you will play a vital role in providing high-quality patient care and supporting our nursing staff.

Job Summary:

The Certified Nursing Assistant will assist nursing staff in providing direct and indirect patient care, as delegated by a nurse. This includes taking vital signs, measuring and recording intake and output, collecting specimens, and providing personal care for inpatients and outpatients.

Responsibilities:
  1. Provides assistance to nursing staff as directed, including taking vital signs and recording as necessary.
  2. Measures and records intake and output on patients when ordered to do so, including emesis, hemovac, suction canisters, T-tubes, voided urine, and foley cath outputs.
  3. Collects specimens in proper containers with proper labels, as directed.
  4. Provides personal care for inpatients and outpatients as necessary, including oral care, bathing, combing hair, etc.
  5. Changes linens on patients' beds.
  6. Gets patients out of bed and helps them to a chair or wheelchair as needed.
  7. Ambulates patients as ordered, with a walker or gait belt if necessary.
  8. Observes patients at regular intervals, answers lights promptly, and documents on a work sheet or verbally, information the Charge Nurse should know.
  9. Reports to the Charge Nurse any observations and/or symptoms indicative of patients' changes and adverse reactions to treatments and/or response of complaints in a prompt manner.
  10. Reports care for assigned patients.
  11. Admits, dismisses, and transfers patients as directed by the Charge Nurse.
  12. Explains procedures to patients and documents observations.
  13. Helps to set priorities when delivering nursing care.
  14. Maintains knowledge of the location for needed equipment and supplies.
  15. Restocks supplies as needed.
  16. Reports equipment needing repairs.
  17. Cleans and stores equipment when no longer needed.
  18. Follows HIPAA regulations and ensures that the confidentiality of patients' medical, personal, financial records, employee records, and organizational records is maintained.
  19. Participates in FCH committees, quality assurance, performance, and quality improvement initiatives, and activities which support the facility and department operations.
  20. Complies with the state and federal regulatory requirements related to the performance of FCH operations and requirements of the FCH Compliance Program.
  21. Presents self in a professional manner and enhances professional growth and development through participation in education programs, current literature, in-service meetings, and workshops.
  22. Performs other duties as assigned.
