Job Description

Responsibilities:

  • Provide socialization, conversation, and emotional reassurance to clients.
  • Encourage and participate in activities to promote well-being and stimulate the mind and spirit.
  • Assist with meal preparation and fluids.
  • Provide timely medication reminders and observe clients for compliance in taking medications.
  • Supervise the safety of clients while they are toileting, bathing, and dressing.
  • Assist with ambulation and use of adaptive equipment for ambulation.
  • Assist with home management, including monitoring food expiration, home repair, and light housekeeping duties.
  • Provide hands-on assistance with Activities of Daily Living (ADL) such as grooming, bathing, dressing, and toileting.
  • Assist with feeding clients who can still independently swallow and be positioned upright.
  • Assist with general skin care and apply non-medicated lotions and solutions.
  • Assist with pivot transfers and use of gait belts and transfer devices.
  • Provide laundry and linen service.
  • Report any concerns to the supervisor.

Requirements:

  • Must have completed orientation and non-medical training program.
  • Must be respectful of clients' homes and property.
  • Have a sympathetic attitude toward the care of the elderly and at-risk clients.
  • Ability to carry out directions, read, and write.
  • Maturity and ability to deal effectively with the demands of the job.
  • Ability to participate in physical activity.
  • Ability to lift at least 50lbs.
  • Ability to do extensive bending, lifting, and standing on a regular basis.
  • Willingness to work various shifts, including overnights.
