Position OverviewWe are seeking a Mechanical Engineer to join our dynamic team. The ideal candidate will contribute to the Building Engineering Services Group (BES), which offers mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and structural design services for a range of projects.
Key Responsibilities- Assist the mechanical design team throughout all project phases, including feasibility studies, conceptual design, and construction documentation.
- Coordinate project assignments to ensure timely completion of deliverables.
- Engage in collaborative work sessions with various stakeholders, including contractors and project owners.
- Draft and refine mechanical specifications tailored to project needs.
- Analyze fan and pump curves for appropriate equipment selection.
- Conduct psychrometric calculations for HVAC system evaluation.
- Create detailed sections and elevations for ductwork and piping systems.
- Develop air and water flow diagrams.
- Collaborate with controls engineers to establish HVAC and plumbing system control requirements.
- Review mechanical documents for interdisciplinary conflicts.
- Perform field verification of existing conditions as necessary.
- Support construction administration by reviewing submittals and addressing RFIs.
- Conduct site visits to monitor construction progress and document observations.
Required:
- Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
- A minimum of 4 years of experience in HVAC and plumbing design.
- Professional Engineer (PE) license.
- Strong understanding of design codes and specifications.
- Excellent organizational and communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team.
- Proactive and well-organized with a focus on client satisfaction.
- Commitment to participating in our employee-owned culture.
Preferred:
- Experience in designing large-scale healthcare or laboratory facilities.
- Proficiency in Revit and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Familiarity with load calculation and energy modeling software.
