Position Overview:
The Registered Nurse in the medical-surgical unit is responsible for delivering both direct and indirect patient care. This role involves effective communication with physicians, Nurse Managers, and colleagues regarding any changes in patients' clinical conditions, including diagnostic results and symptoms. The nurse must be adept at responding promptly and accurately to alterations in patient status or treatment responses.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform general nursing duties across various departments with appropriate supervision.
- As a charge nurse, assign patient care responsibilities based on the skills and experience of nursing staff and the acuity of patients, ensuring safety for both patients and staff.
- Guide and mentor staff members in all aspects of patient care and management.
- Engage in quality improvement initiatives throughout all phases, from planning to implementation, and take corrective actions when necessary.
Qualifications:
- Current Registered Nurse licensure in the state of Texas.
- BLS certification through the American Heart Association.
- ACLS certification through the American Heart Association within 90 days of employment.
