Position Summary:
In the role of Sous Chef, you will oversee the effective functioning of the Culinary Department within a facility. Your responsibilities will include assisting in the supervision, preparation, and cooking of a variety of food items, as well as developing daily menu offerings and their presentation. You may supervise hourly staff and collaborate with the Executive Chef to create new menus and assist with procurement.
Key Responsibilities:
- Support the Executive Chef in managing cost controls and overseeing expenditures for the account.
- Assist in the planning and creation of menus.
- Execute and manage catering events.
- Implement new culinary initiatives in collaboration with the marketing and culinary teams.
Preferred Qualifications:
- A.S. degree or equivalent experience.
- Progressive culinary or kitchen management experience, depending on formal education or training.
- Catering experience is advantageous.
- Experience in high-volume, complex foodservice operations is highly desirable.
- Knowledge of institutional and batch cooking practices is beneficial.
- Comprehensive understanding of food and catering trends with a focus on quality, production, sanitation, food cost management, and presentation.
- Proficient in computer applications, including Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), Outlook, and the Internet.
- Willingness to engage in client satisfaction initiatives.
- ServSafe certification is highly desirable.
