Position Summary: The Oncology Registered Nurse is responsible for delivering high-quality nursing care and managing the administration of oncology treatments to patients within a medical oncology setting. This role requires a commitment to following established healthcare protocols and providing compassionate support to patients and their families.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Administers professional nursing care and coordinates oncology treatment plans for assigned patients, ensuring compliance with healthcare standards and protocols.
  • Delivers direct patient care, including the administration of chemotherapy, blood products, and other prescribed oncology therapies, while providing necessary supportive care.
  • Conducts thorough nursing assessments and triages patient care requirements for both new and ongoing cases.
  • Educates patients, families, and caregivers about treatment processes and serves as a reliable information source for healthcare professionals and the community.
  • Offers family support services, including referrals and bereavement counseling as needed.
  • Adheres to departmental policies, quality improvement initiatives, and safety standards to maintain a safe healthcare environment.
  • May mentor and supervise other nursing and support personnel involved in clinical tasks; may also engage in research activities.
  • Performs additional job-related duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Current Kentucky Registered Nurse Licensure is required.
  • BLS certification is mandatory; ACLS certification is preferred.
  • A minimum of 2 years of experience in oncology nursing is required.

Work schedule: Monday - Friday as needed.
