Your Responsibilities:
The Tax Division in Torrance is seeking a proficient Tax Manager to enhance our accomplished team of tax specialists. This role will oversee the completion of all client tax filings, ensuring accuracy and compliance. The ideal candidate will foster strong relationships with clients and act as a key intermediary between the staff and Partners. Responsibilities include:

  • Reviewing and approving tax returns for corporations, partnerships, individuals, and trusts, including complex multi-state filings.
  • Engaging with state and federal agencies regarding client tax matters.
  • Providing mentorship and support to tax staff on technical inquiries and software usage.
  • Assisting in the preparation of documentation for audits conducted by state and federal authorities.
  • Ensuring timely completion and submission of all tax returns and related filings.
  • Overseeing tax-related payments and ensuring they are processed punctually.
  • Identifying and investigating tax issues pertinent to client transactions.
  • Guiding team members towards achieving both professional and personal development goals.
  • Participating in client meetings alongside Partners to cultivate and maintain client relationships.
  • Working extended hours as necessary to meet deadlines.
  • Performing additional related duties as assigned.

Qualifications for Success:
To excel in this role, candidates should possess:

  • Comprehensive knowledge of tax regulations affecting individuals, corporations, partnerships, estates, and trusts.
  • Strong familiarity with tax return processes and adaptability to changing workflows.
  • Analytical skills to identify, assess, and resolve tax-related issues, alongside critical thinking abilities to implement tax strategies.
  • Attention to detail, exceptional organizational skills, and the capacity to perform under pressure.
  • Proficiency in CCH Axcess/ProSystem and a solid understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles.
  • Competence in Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, and Outlook.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, coupled with strong interpersonal abilities.
  • A professional demeanor and the ability to collaborate effectively within a team.

Educational and Experience Requirements:
Candidates should have:

  • A Bachelor's degree in Accounting or a related field.
  • Certification as a Public Accountant is preferred.
  • A minimum of 5 years of experience leading a team of tax professionals.
  • At least 7 years of relevant tax experience in public accounting or a family office setting.
  • Extensive experience in real estate and partnership tax compliance and consulting is advantageous.

Work Environment:
This position may involve occasional physical activities such as standing, walking, and lifting up to 15 pounds. Regular use of hands for typing and reaching is required, along with standard office tasks like talking and listening.
