Job Title: School Counselor

Job Summary: We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated School Counselor to join our team at Orange County School District, NC. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing guidance and support to students, parents, and teachers to ensure the academic and personal success of our students.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Program Planning: Develop and implement a comprehensive school counseling program that aligns with the North Carolina Standard Course of Study.
  • Counseling: Provide individual and group counseling services to students, addressing their developmental, preventive, and remedial needs.
  • Consulting: Collaborate with teachers, parents, and other school personnel to support student success.
  • Coordinating: Coordinate all counseling services for students and assist with the coordination and implementation of student services in the school.
  • Student Appraisal: Accurately interpret test results and other student data to inform educational placement decisions.
  • Professional Practices and Development: Adhere to ethical standards of the counseling profession and participate in professional associations to stay current with best practices.

Requirements:

  • Education: Bachelor's degree in a related field with a Master's degree in counseling or an equivalent combination of training and experience.
  • Licensure: Must be licensed by the State of North Carolina Department of Public Instruction in counseling or able to obtain licensure in this area.

Working Conditions: The School Counselor will work in a fast-paced school environment, interacting with students, parents, and staff. The ability to multitask, prioritize, and maintain confidentiality is essential.
