POSITION SUMMARY

The role requires expertise in sourcing materials and services essential for fulfilling production timelines and sales demands. This includes managing the procurement process from the initial purchase intent in engineering through to the operational manufacturing phase, while also analyzing the flow of goods throughout the supply chain and effectively communicating insights across various organizational tiers.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES include the following:

  • Generate purchase orders utilizing an ERP system.
  • Employ configuration software alongside engineering specifications to create project-specific items/orders.
  • Ensure timely delivery of purchase orders by monitoring open order reports, collaborating with vendors to confirm shipping dates, and updating internal systems for accuracy.
  • Responsible for acknowledging daily purchase order confirmations from vendor partners and proactively addressing any discrepancies with relevant teams.
  • Assist all organizational levels in their procurement activities, including but not limited to estimating, engineering, accounting, purchasing/planning, sales, and operations.
  • Maintain professionalism in supplier interactions.
  • Engage in and support continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Comply with established Policies, Critical Business Practices (CBPs), Standards, and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
  • Follow safety policies and procedures to ensure a secure environment for all employees.
  • Execute job responsibilities in alignment with the Company's Core Values.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

A Bachelor's degree or equivalent in a related field is preferred, with over 5 years of relevant experience in a manufacturing environment, or an equivalent combination of education and experience with at least an Associate's degree.

SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE REQUIREMENTS
  • Strong negotiation skills with an emphasis on relationship-building.
  • Excellent organizational and data-entry capabilities, with the ability to manage multiple tasks and meet ongoing deadlines.
  • Familiarity with supply chain logistics and production planning concepts, with a commitment to continuous improvement.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills across all organizational levels.
  • Ability to interpret engineering outputs, including design drawings and material lists.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook) and knowledgeable about ERP/MRP system processes.
  • Service-oriented with persistence and tolerance in working with external vendors and internal teams.
  • Strong problem-solving skills at both strategic and tactical levels, with a focus on decision-making and execution.
  • A commitment to mentorship and supporting the development of other procurement team members.
  • Familiarity with APICS processes and methodologies.
  • Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing tools related to Vendor Managed Inventory (VMI) and Kanban.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

This position does not have supervisory responsibilities.

WORK ENVIRONMENT/TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS

The work environment is primarily office-based, with occasional visits to the manufacturing floor. Noise levels are typically moderate. Some travel may be necessary for vendor meetings and facility tours.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

Regularly required to sit or stand, reach, bend, and move throughout the facility. While performing job duties, the employee is frequently required to talk and hear. The employee may occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
