About the Role

The Historic Ship Preservation and Education Coordinator is responsible for leading instruction of the SAILOR Program from fall through winter and assisting with on-water fleet maintenance, implementation of shop programming, and interpretive projects in the boat shop and on the ships. This position requires strong communication skills, both verbal and written, and the ability to work well in a team environment.

Essential Duties:
  • Develop knowledge of the history of historic ships and historic trades in the boat shop; deliver information to the public consistent with the museum's mission for the ships
  • Assist with supervision of volunteers and contractors
  • Perform routine maintenance tasks including regular ship or boat cleaning, snow removal, safety patrols, painting, damage control, machine maintenance, electrical maintenance, artifact handling, woodworking, and steel work

The Independence Seaport Museum offers a competitive salary of $58,000 - $68,000 per year, depending on experience, and a comprehensive benefits package.
