Job Summary:

The Cardiac Surgery Unit RN is responsible for providing direct patient care to patients undergoing cardiac surgery. This includes assessing patients' physical and emotional needs, developing and implementing individualized care plans, and collaborating with the interdisciplinary team to ensure seamless care transitions.

Responsibilities:
  • Provide direct patient care to patients undergoing cardiac surgery, including assessing patients' physical and emotional needs, developing and implementing individualized care plans, and collaborating with the interdisciplinary team to ensure seamless care transitions.
  • Administer medications and treatments as prescribed by physicians, and monitor patients' responses to these interventions.
  • Collaborate with the interdisciplinary team to develop and implement individualized care plans that address patients' physical, emotional, and spiritual needs.
  • Participate in patient and family education, and provide emotional support and guidance to patients and their families.
  • Document patient care and progress in the medical record, and communicate effectively with the interdisciplinary team to ensure seamless care transitions.
Requirements:
  • 1 year of experience in a progressive care or step-down unit in an acute care facility.
  • 1 year of Epic experience preferred.
  • ACLS, BLS, and NIHSS certifications required.
Work Schedule:

This is a 3x12 night shift position, with a guaranteed 36 hours per week. The schedule includes weekend shifts and is open to accommodating a block schedule.

Unit Information:

The Cardiac Surgery Unit is a higher-acuity unit than the OHVI5-PCU, with a focus on providing high-quality care to patients undergoing cardiac surgery. The unit is equipped with central lines, IJ intraducers, radial artery devices, temp pacemakers, and pericardial drains.
