Job Responsibilities
- Evaluation of Donor Suitability: Conduct thorough evaluations of donor suitability for automated pheresis procedures.
- Administration of Immunizations: Administer approved immunizations, other than red blood cell immunizations, as needed.
- Emergency Medical Care: Provide limited emergency medical care to donors and staff, including the administration of medication or treatments in accordance with licensure or certification.
- Customer Relations: Promote positive customer relations with all donors.
- Donor Interviews: Conduct confidential and effective interviews with donors to obtain necessary information regarding suitability to donate plasma.
- Medical History Reviews: Perform medical history reviews and health assessments on donors.
- Test Result Analysis: Assess results of donor screening and laboratory tests to determine initial and continuing donor suitability.
- Counseling and Referral: Notify and counsel donors regarding reactive test results and refer them to community facilities for follow-up and counseling.
- Informed Consent: Explain informed consent to applicant donors, including explanation of procedures, hazards, and potential adverse events.
- Medical Emergencies: Handle medical emergencies at the center by providing routine care as outlined in Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
Requirements
- Education: Graduation from a paramedic, nursing, physician assistant, chiropractic, medical school, or naturopathic medical training program.
- Experience: Minimum of one year experience in a healthcare environment, preferably in a plasma or whole blood collection center or other regulated environment.
- Skills and Qualifications: Ability to make and analyze physical assessments, instruct donors and staff, and understand and apply oral and written instructions.
Working Conditions
The ideal candidate will have excellent communication and interpersonal skills, be able to work effectively in a fast-paced environment, and have the ability to see and speak with customers and observe equipment operation. The position requires occasional standing and walking up to 100% of the time, examining and assessing skin and other abnormalities through sight, touch, and smell, and reaching, bending, kneeling, and having high levels of manual dexterity.
Compensation and Benefits
As a Medical Professional at CSL Plasma, you can expect a competitive salary range of $60,000 - $80,000 per year, based on experience, plus opportunities for growth and professional development.
