Overview: Reporting to the QC Supervisor, the Laboratory Technician Level 1 is tasked with performing precise analyses, sampling methods, and data documentation to provide the process and mining departments with dependable operational insights.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Collect production grab samples as needed.
  • Conduct quality control analyses of samples utilizing sieves, petrographic microscopes, magnetic separation, and various laboratory techniques.
  • Maintain a comprehensive database of sample details and results, preparing summaries as necessary.
  • Ensure a clean working environment by performing cleaning duties in the laboratory and associated amenities, and maintain adequate stock of cleaning supplies.
  • Execute all tasks satisfactorily as directed by the Supervisor or senior staff.
  • Promptly report any accidents, incidents, or potential hazards to the Supervisor or senior staff.
  • Exhibit a positive and attentive demeanor while representing GMA USA Inc.
  • Cooperate and engage courteously with fellow employees.
  • Participate in workplace inspections, Take-5's, and Job Safety Analyses (JSA) prior to commencing work.
  • Immediately report any issues regarding product quality or equipment that may impact the quality or productivity of operations.
  • Take responsibility for personal health and safety as well as that of colleagues.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned by the Supervisor.

The role requires the use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), including respirators for fine dust. Employees may frequently encounter noisy and dusty conditions.

The schedule for this position will follow a rotating 12-hour day/night shift pattern; however, the work schedule may vary based on production requirements as determined by the Supervisor and Manager. Occasional outdoor work in varying weather conditions, including extreme cold and heat, may be necessary.

Specific vision abilities required for this role include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is continuously required to sit at and operate a computer; frequently required to stand, walk, use hands, reach with hands and arms, talk, and hear.

RELEVANT QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE:

Experience in a quality control environment is preferred but not mandatory. Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Outlook and Excel, is required.
