Position Summary
We are looking for a Property Accountant to oversee the financial operations for a designated portfolio of properties. This role is crucial in managing daily accounting tasks and ensuring the accuracy of financial reporting.
Core Responsibilities
- Manage the general ledgers and financial reporting for assigned properties.
- Prepare monthly financial reports, including budget variance analyses and lender documentation.
- Collaborate with departments such as Asset Management and Property Management to ensure compliance with GAAP and internal policies.
- Handle daily cash management, accounts receivable/payable processing, and bank reconciliations.
- Oversee tenant invoicing, reimbursement calculations, and lease analysis.
- Ensure timely and accurate accounting entries with a clear audit trail.
- Conduct quarterly balance sheet reconciliations.
- Assist in the development and revision of departmental policies and procedures.
- Prepare annual Common Area Maintenance (CAM) estimates and reconciliations.
- Support the annual audit process.
- Complete additional tasks and projects as assigned.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- Strong understanding of GAAP and accounting principles.
- 1-3 years of experience in journal entries, balance sheet reconciliations, and financial analysis.
- Experience in the commercial real estate sector is preferred.
- Familiarity with real estate legal documents, such as leases and management agreements.
- Experience with accounting software like Yardi Voyager is a plus.
- Excellent communication and organizational skills with attention to detail.
- Proficient in Excel and Google Workspace tools.
- CPA designation or candidacy is advantageous.
