Job Summary

Virginia Jobs is seeking a skilled Electrical/Ventilation Trades Specialist to join our Facilities Management Department. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for performing preventive maintenance, repair, and installation of building infrastructure, primarily exhaust and fume hood systems. You will also provide exemplary customer service to faculty, staff, and students, ensuring the efficient operation of Zone facilities.

Key Responsibilities
  • Utilize knowledge of electrical and mechanical trades to perform maintenance, repair, and installation of building infrastructure
  • Provide customer service to faculty, staff, and students, ensuring efficient operation of Zone facilities
  • Identify and document system deficiencies using diagnostic tools and advise management of tasks requiring priority attention
  • Provide quality workmanship and service to maximize system availability and minimize unscheduled downtime
Requirements
  • Several years' experience in commercial/institutional electrical or mechanical maintenance
  • Electrical or HVAC courses I, II, III, code classes, basic and advanced training or equivalent combination of experience and trade/craft training
  • State of Virginia Journeyman Electrical or HVAC License required or the ability to obtain within the first year of service
  • Ability to diagnose, repair, service, and install a wide variety of electrical and mechanical systems
  • Ability to communicate orally and in writing to supervision, other employees, and customers
  • Knowledge of appropriate building codes
  • Ability to use a wide variety of hand tools and power equipment
  • Valid Driver's License required
  • High School diploma, GED, or equivalent
  • Ability to be on-call required
  • Demonstrated experience working in and fostering a diverse faculty, staff, and student environment or commitment to do so as a staff member at VCU
