About the Role

Merrill Gardens at Rancho Cucamonga is seeking a highly motivated and compassionate Active Living Assistant to join our team. As an Active Living Assistant, you will play a vital role in creating a welcoming and engaging environment for our residents.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and Implement Activities: Collaborate with the Active Living Program Director to design and implement a program of activities that cater to the diverse needs and interests of our residents.
  • Lead and Conduct Program Activities: Deliver, lead, or conduct program activities in a timely and effective manner, ensuring that residents have opportunities to engage in meaningful and enjoyable experiences.
  • Coordinate Family Activities: Coordinate at least one family activity per month, fostering a sense of community and connection among residents and their loved ones.
  • Present a Professional Demeanor: Maintain a professional demeanor that communicates a corporate philosophy of service, goodwill, and genuine interest in each resident's needs.
  • Familiarize Yourself with Residents: Familiarize yourself with residents of the community, observing their abilities and social skills, and communicating potential difficulties or opportunities to the appropriate team member.
  • Encourage and Motivate Residents: Encourage and motivate residents in all areas, providing support and assistance when necessary.
  • Participate in Training: Participate in all training offered by the employer, ensuring that you are equipped with the knowledge and skills necessary to excel in your role.
  • Assume Duties in Absence: Assume the duties and functions of activities staff in their absence, demonstrating flexibility and a commitment to the team's success.
Requirements
  • Education: High School diploma required; College Degree or equivalent preferred.
  • Experience: One to two years related experience, training, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Skills: Maintain confidentiality of employer, team members, and residents alike; follow written and verbal instructions; accurately maintain all records related to the department; able to communicate ideas both verbally and in writing; employ effective listening skills when engaged with residents and team members; represent and promote activities and programs as a member of the team; organize and manage both information and time effectively.
