Job Summary

This position provides exceptional service duties in The Coffee Shoppe, Courtyard Caf dining room and kitchen environment. The ideal candidate will be responsible for functioning as a barista, cook, and food preparer, while maintaining a clean and safe environment for guests. This role requires strong communication skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Serve guests in The Coffee Shoppe and Dining Area with a smile
  • Prepare hot and cold beverages, such as coffee, espresso drinks, blended coffees, shakes or teas
  • Perform food preparation for guests, including cooking and plating
  • Describe and offer menu items suggestions to guests to enhance their dining experience
  • Maintain the quality, stock, and rotation of products in display cases and ice cream freezer
  • Check temperatures of freezers, refrigerator, and display case to ensure proper functioning
  • Clean or sanitize utensils, equipment, work and dining areas to maintain a clean and safe environment
  • Perform cashier responsibilities, including handling cash and operating a point-of-sale system
  • Ability to work and problem solve without direct supervision, while maintaining a positive attitude and providing excellent customer service
Requirements
  • Candidate must be at least 16 years of age
  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • Food Handler Permit required within 15 days of start date
  • Ability to work with a large group of residents/customers, including those with challenged mental capacities
  • Beginner level knowledge of cash handling and cash register operation
  • Proven working experience in a restaurant/coffee shop preferred
  • Computer literacy and ability to perform basic math calculations
Working Conditions

This role requires working in a kitchen and restaurant environment, with exposure to inside environmental conditions, including temperature changes and infectious diseases. The associate is also required to function around individuals with challenged mental capacities.

Physical and Mental Demands

The physical demands of this role include frequent lifting of up to 15 pounds, occasional lifting of up to 36 pounds, and standing for long periods of time. The mental demands include the ability to work in a fast-paced environment, handle stress, and maintain a positive attitude.
