Building Custodian

Job Summary

The Creston Community School District seeks a skilled Building Custodian to maintain the cleanliness and organization of our school facilities. As a key member of our facilities team, you will be responsible for ensuring a safe and healthy environment for our students and staff.

Key Responsibilities:

• Cleaning and Maintenance:
  • Sweep, vacuum, buff, strip, wax, and dust mop assigned areas.
  • Remove trash from rooms and buildings and put it in containers and dumpsters.
• Sanitation and Hygiene:
  • Scrub and clean toilets, including mirrors, wash basins, urinals, commodes, and slop sinks.
  • Fills tissue, towel, and soap dispensers; disinfects as needed.
• Furniture and Equipment:
  • Dust furniture, walls, windowsills, and other woodwork.
  • Wash windows, walls, and woodwork.
  • Move furniture as required; set up and organize rooms for activities.
• Security and Safety:
  • Secure windows and classroom doors daily and check alarms.

Requirements:

To perform this job successfully, an individual must have a high school diploma or equivalent combination of education and experience. The ideal candidate will have general knowledge of cleaning methods, materials, and equipment, as well as the ability to understand and follow simple oral and written directions.

Work Environment:

This role requires the regular exertion of up to 10 pounds of force, frequent exertion of up to 25 pounds of force, and occasional exertion of up to 50 pounds of force. The work environment is moderately noisy, and the employee may be required to wear specialized personal protective equipment.
