YOUR ROLE
The Installation Team Leader is tasked with mentoring and supervising installation teams on-site.
This role will act as the primary point of contact for Installation Quality Control within our office and will assist the Operations/Installation Manager while serving as a field change agent to enhance communication, project execution, and efficiency among Installation Technicians.
Key Responsibilities:
This position is vital in ensuring that all audio and visual productions adhere to our high standards of quality and excellence.
Oversee the quality assurance process for all audio and visual installations, ensuring alignment with company standards and client requirements.
Assist with technical escalations from the field team and collaborate with other team members to find resolutions as necessary.
Conduct quality assurance visits during and after installation/commissioning and communicate findings to project teams and management.
Perform pre-installation site assessments as required.
Coordinate and manage installation activities, including all outsourced or subcontracted work in support of project installation efforts.
Develop a comprehensive understanding of project requirements and objectives, including contractual, technical, scheduling, construction coordination, materials, personnel, and scope of work.
Support and engage in process improvement initiatives.
Demonstrate installation tasks for audiovisual projects, including but not limited to:
pulling cable, cable termination, and equipment mounting.
Interpret electronic schematics and architectural blueprints.
Conduct site inspections and audits to assess the quality of installations, including equipment setup, wiring, and overall functionality.
Identify, document, and address quality concerns or discrepancies during installations, collaborating with teams to implement corrective actions.
Travel to various job sites daily to oversee installation activities.
Mentor and assist Installation Technicians in their designated learning and development plans.
Possibility of supervising 5-10 direct reports.
QUALIFICATIONS
Essential Skills:
Ability to implement and manage the activities of an installation workforce through recruiting, training, scheduling, and best-practice techniques.
Capability to lead a cohesive team, create alignment among management, and attract and develop staff to foster a team-oriented and collaborative environment.
Ability to guide team members towards a unified set of strategic objectives and maintain efficient timelines in task completion.
Proven ability to significantly contribute to or lead operational initiatives with a results-oriented mindset.
Knowledge of basic signal flow for audio, video, and control systems.
Familiarity with AV or other electromechanical systems.
Exceptional strategic thinking and structured problem-solving skills.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, both verbal and written.
Strong ability to adapt to changing priorities while managing multiple tasks.
Ability to negotiate conflicts and maintain strong working relationships with individuals at all levels of the organization.
Enthusiastic self-starter capable of working independently and meeting deadlines.
Proficiency in using hand and power tools safely and efficiently.
Ability to sit, walk, and stand; talk or hear, both in person and by telephone; use hands repetitively to operate standard office equipment.
Valid Driver's License and a Motor Vehicle Record that meets AVI-SPL driving standards.
Minimum High School Diploma or equivalent.
Preferred Skills:
Current OSHA 30 certification.
Bachelor's Degree in Business or a related field.
Demonstrated knowledge and experience with construction or project management principles and best practices.
Minor control system and DSP programming capabilities, including troubleshooting and modifications.
Extensive experience in developing and implementing business processes and streamlining operations.
