Core Responsibilities:
Deliver tailored educational experiences and activities that align with the assigned core academic subjects, enabling students to reach their full potential in intellectual, emotional, physical, and social domains. Facilitate the development of essential skills and competencies for successful societal engagement.
Qualifications:
Education and Certification:
- Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution
- Valid teaching certification in Texas with necessary endorsements or training for the assigned subject and level-preferred
- Proven expertise in the designated core academic subject area
Specialized Knowledge and Skills:
- Thorough understanding of the assigned core academic subject
- Expertise in curriculum development and instructional methodologies
- Ability to effectively instruct and manage student behavior
- Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal abilities
Experience:
- Preferred one year of student teaching or an approved internship
Key Responsibilities:
Instructional Strategies:
1. Design and execute lesson plans that meet district curriculum standards, demonstrating thorough preparation as required. Create lessons that accommodate diverse student needs.
2. Utilize suitable instructional strategies, activities, materials, and technology that reflect an understanding of students' learning styles and needs, presenting subject matter according to established guidelines.
3. Assess student learning styles and utilize findings to inform instructional planning.
4. Collaborate with special education professionals to adapt curricula for students with special needs, in accordance with Individual Education Plans (IEP).
5. Work with colleagues to set instructional goals, objectives, and methods in line with district requirements.
6. Supervise the work of instructional aides and volunteers, ensuring task completion.
Student Development:
7. Conduct ongoing assessments of student progress through both formal and informal evaluations.
8. Take responsibility for extracurricular activities as assigned, sponsoring approved outside initiatives.
9. Serve as a positive role model for students, supporting the educational mission.
Classroom Management:
10. Establish a classroom environment conducive to learning, suitable for the physical, social, and emotional growth of students.
11. Manage student behavior in accordance with established codes of conduct.
12. Ensure the safety of students, equipment, materials, and facilities.
13. Assist in the selection of instructional materials and resources.
14. Maintain accurate records and documentation as required.
Communication:
15. Foster professional relationships and open communication with parents, students, colleagues, and community members.
Professional Development:
16. Engage in professional development activities to enhance job-related skills.
17. Adhere to state, district, and school regulations and policies for educators.
18. Participate in faculty meetings and contribute to staff committees as needed.
Additional Responsibilities:
19. Perform any other duties as assigned by the immediate supervisor.
Supervisory Duties:
- Oversee the work of assigned instructional aides.
