Position Summary: The Environmental Compliance Manager will work under the guidance of the Senior Environmental Manager to implement and maintain the CEMEX Environmental Management System. This role is pivotal in fostering an environmentally responsible culture within our workforce while ensuring compliance with all relevant environmental laws and regulations across multiple sites.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Champion the Zero4Life initiative, promoting a culture of safety and injury prevention.
  • Ensure adherence to federal, state, and local environmental regulations across all supervised sites.
  • Act as the primary liaison with regulatory agencies, facilitating communication and negotiation.
  • Oversee environmental assessments of air, water, and land systems, implementing corrective measures as necessary.
  • Develop and enforce policies and procedures aligned with organizational goals and regulatory requirements.
  • Evaluate operations to recommend strategies for waste reduction and pollution control.
  • Support the continuous improvement of the Environmental Management System within the region.
  • Stay informed on regulatory changes and propose adaptive strategies to mitigate risks.
  • Establish systems for measuring environmental progress through audits and assessments.
  • Identify environmental risks and assist in developing mitigation strategies.
  • Provide guidance and mentorship to environmental specialists and technicians.
  • Engage with community leaders to foster a positive corporate image.
  • Participate in community initiatives to enhance CEMEX's involvement.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Environmental Science or a related field is required.
  • A minimum of 4 years of professional experience in an environmental role, or 2 years combined with an advanced degree.

Skills and Abilities:

  • Strong understanding of regulatory permitting processes at various governmental levels.
  • Exceptional organizational skills and the ability to work independently.
  • Proven leadership capabilities to manage diverse teams and external consultants.
  • Detail-oriented with excellent communication skills for presentations and reports.
  • Strong time management skills to handle multiple projects effectively.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and environmental software applications.
  • Willingness to travel as required.

Working Conditions: The role may require occasional travel and physical activities, including lifting and climbing.
