We are seeking a skilled Nursing Assistant to join our team in the Nursing Service at the Boston VA Healthcare System. As a Nursing Assistant, you will play a vital role in providing high-quality patient care and contributing to the overall success of our healthcare team.
Key Responsibilities- Provide direct patient care, including personal hygiene, feeding, and elimination needs.
- Assist with the admission of patients, including orienting them to the unit and checking for contraband.
- Participate in the care of patients with physical and/or behavioral problems, under the direction of a Registered Nurse and/or Licensed Vocational Nurse/Licensed Practical Nurse.
- Communicate effectively with patients, families, and other healthcare professionals.
- Perform various technical procedures, such as taking and recording vital signs, collecting specimens, and administering oxygen.
- United States Citizenship: Non-citizens may only be appointed when it is not possible to recruit qualified citizens in accordance with VA Policy.
- Experience or Education: Six months of general experience, or one year above high school with courses related to the Nursing Assistant occupation, or completion of an intensive, specialized, occupation-related course of study of less than one year as a nursing assistant.
- English Language Proficiency: Nursing Assistants must be proficient in spoken and written English in accordance with VA Handbook 5005, part II, chapter 3, section A, paragraph 3j.
