CNC Machinist Job Summary

At VIP Staffing, we are seeking a skilled CNC Machinist to join our team. As a CNC Machinist, you will be responsible for setting up and operating CNC machines to manufacture high-quality parts. Your primary duties will include:

  • Setting up and editing CNC programs to ensure accurate and efficient production.
  • Mounting and changing out tooling, jaws, and masters as needed.
  • Verifying the proper setup of programs and proving out parts to ensure safe machining.
  • Deploying predetermined programs for cutting parts based on job orders.
  • Reworking parts, making offsets, and completing clean-up and deviations.
  • Measuring and marking dimensions and reference points on material or work pieces.
  • Inspecting work pieces throughout a production run.
  • Cleaning and performing basic preventative maintenance functions on machines, tooling, and parts.
  • Studying sample parts to determine dimensions of finished work pieces and CNC equipment setup requirements.
  • Detecting malfunctions using precision measuring instruments such as calipers.
  • Communicating with supervisors to resolve machining or quality issues.

Requirements

To be successful as a CNC Machinist, you will need:

  • A high school diploma or GED and one year of experience in a relevant manufacturing environment or a completed training program.
  • Two years of experience in a relevant manufacturing environment or a completed training program preferred and operating lathes and mills.

Preferred Skills

We are looking for candidates with knowledge of general operations of CNC machines, including proper setup of jaws and tightening of parts. Basic knowledge of FANUC controls is also preferred. Additionally, you should be able to read measuring tools such as measuring tape, pie tape, and calipers, and read and understand prints and drawings. Ability to detect defects with machining and basic math skills that include geometry and trigonometry to calculate material fabrication are also essential.

Work Environment

This position requires constant standing, kneeling, raising of arms to exercise control of the machine, and climbing to gauge progress of cutting. Occasional lifting of up to 50lbs is also required. Exposure to high temperatures in the facility is possible. You will need to be able to lift heavy equipment using hoists and forklifts and stand for long periods. Adaptability to a changing work environment is also necessary. Overtime may be required on occasion.
