Key Responsibilities
  • Operate x-ray equipment to produce radiographs of designated portions of the body as ordered by a physician
  • Accountable for the performance and documentation of all diagnostic procedures utilizing proper technical parameters to produce quality studies
  • Knowledgeable in the safe use, maneuverability, and operation of all general radiography, portable, fluoro, C-arm, and O-arm equipment
  • Proficient in the performance of general diagnostic, general fluoroscopy, GI, Pain, Urology, C-arm, and O-arm procedures
  • Adhere to infection prevention, isolation, and sterile techniques as it applies in patient handling and delivery of care
  • Adhere to ALARA principles in performance of exams to reduce exposure to self, the patient, and others
  • Utilize proper patient identification to ensure the correct exam is performed on the correct patient at the correct time
  • Obtain and record pertinent patient history, explain the procedure to the patient in a manner to ensure understanding, ensure patient comfort during performance of the exam
  • Adhere to department standards of radiographic quality
  • Review radiographs to ensure optimum quality
  • Report environmental/equipment problems to appropriate resource personnel
  • Perform required computer functions for RIS/HIS systems
  • Label all radiographs appropriately following department's established criteria and standards

Requirements
  • Graduate of an accredited school of Radiologic Technology
  • IEMA Accreditation in Radiologic Technology
  • Current ARRT (RT) Certification
  • 1 year experience and proficient in the performance of general diagnostic, general fluoroscopy, GI, Pain, Urology, C-arm, and O-arm procedures

Working Conditions
  • Ability to work weekends and holidays in order to accommodate patient care needs
  • Ability to work rotating shift any day of the week
  • Ability to take call and arrive on site within one hour
  • May be exposed to radiation during procedures
  • May be required to sit or stand for long periods of time or be required to lift and move patients
  • May be exposed to hazardous materials, infectious disease, and required to participate in annual emergency drills
  • Required to maintain current CPR certification
  • Ability to lift up to 35 pounds without assistance
