Diesel Mechanic Job Description

We are seeking a skilled Diesel Mechanic to join our team at Pencco. As a Diesel Mechanic, you will be responsible for maintaining and repairing commercial vehicles, ensuring they are in top working condition.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Conduct diagnostic tests on commercial vehicles to identify issues and determine the necessary repairs.
  • Analyze diagnostic test results to determine the root cause of problems and develop effective solutions.
  • Install and repair PTOs, PTO compressors, and rear fenders on commercial vehicles.
  • Perform routine maintenance tasks, such as changing and upgrading valves and piping on hazmat tanker trailers.
  • Install electronic logging systems with cameras into commercial vehicles.
  • Inspect and test vehicle lighting systems to ensure they are functioning properly.
  • Test drive commercial vehicles to gauge performance and identify any issues.
  • Perform preventative maintenance on service trucks to ensure they are in good working condition.
  • Maintain detailed records of serviced vehicles, including maintenance and repair history.
  • Adhere to an inspection procedure checklist to ensure all vehicles meet safety and regulatory standards.
  • Maintain a parts inventory to ensure that all necessary components are available for repairs.
  • Ensure the cleanliness of the shop and maintain a safe working environment.
Requirements:
  • Valid driver's license.
  • 2 years of proven mechanic work experience.
  • Aptitude for mathematics and science.
  • Advanced knowledge of diesel engine components.
  • Good IT and diagnostic skills.
  • Able to physically handle the requirements of this position.
  • Proficiency with maintenance and repair tools.
  • Attention to detail.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Good organization skills.
  • Class A CDL - not required but a plus.
  • State/Federal Inspection License - not required but a plus.
  • Tanker Trailer Knowledge - not required but a plus.
