Key Responsibilities of the Rehabilitation Therapy Assistant:

  • Engage in continuous interdisciplinary assessments of patients
  • Follow the directives of the supervising physical therapist in alignment with the care plan
  • Contribute to the formulation and assessment of the care plan in collaboration with the patient, their representatives, and caregivers
  • Deliver services as prescribed by the physician, as outlined in the care plan
  • Assist the supervising physical therapist in documenting patient progress and treatment responses
  • Ensure timely, clear, and accurate documentation of treatment and interventions, as well as patient progress towards goals, adhering to professional standards and regulatory requirements
  • Provide education and counseling to patients and their families to facilitate progress towards established health goals
  • Communicate effectively with other members of the healthcare team to ensure coordinated patient care and discharge planning
  • Maintain communication with all physicians involved in the patient's care plan and other healthcare professionals as necessary
  • Access personal health information (PHI) as required to perform the above duties, in accordance with organizational policies

Qualifications for the Rehabilitation Therapy Assistant:

  • Valid licensure as a physical therapist assistant in the state of Michigan
  • A minimum of two years of experience as a physical therapist assistant within the last five years
  • Current CPR certification
  • Home health experience is advantageous
