Veterinary Care Specialist

The Veterinary Technician will play a vital role in the Companion Animal Clinic, a busy general practice. This individual will be responsible for providing exceptional care and support to our patients and clients.
Key Responsibilities- Assist in setting up surgical and treatment areas, ensuring a safe and efficient environment for patients and staff.
- Admit patients to the clinic, following established protocols and procedures.
- Create accurate hospitalization and treatment estimates, ensuring transparency and clarity for clients.
- Ensure correct charges are completed in the electronic medical record daily, maintaining accuracy and attention to detail.
- Assist with anesthesia administration and monitoring, ensuring the highest level of patient care.
- Assist with surgical procedures as needed, working collaboratively with veterinarians and other support staff.
- Responsible for radiography, venipuncture, catheter placement, and bandage changes, demonstrating expertise and proficiency in these areas.
- Monitor physical and medical conditions of hospitalized patients, including pain assessment, and administer medications and fluid therapy as prescribed.
- Assist with dentistry, ensuring the highest level of care and attention to detail.
- Feed and exercise hospitalized animals as directed, maintaining a clean and safe environment.
- Process laundry and linen as needed, ensuring a neat and adequate supply at all times.
- Assist in the sterilization department as needed, maintaining a clean and safe environment.
- Assist veterinarians in running routine lab samples, ensuring accuracy and attention to detail.
- Recordkeeping - Add appropriate patient notes into the electronic medical record, maintaining accurate and up-to-date records.
- Patient advocate - Provide exceptional care and support to patients and clients, ensuring their needs are met and exceeded.
- Assist in instructional support of students in conjunction with faculty during discussions and labs, promoting learning and growth.
- Follow protocols in working with patients with infectious diseases, maintaining a safe and healthy environment.
- Maintain equipment and inventory, ensuring a well-stocked and functional environment.
- High School diploma or equivalent required.
- Minimum 3-5 years of experience working in an animal hospital or veterinary clinic setting.
- CVT certification from the State of Arizona preferred.
- At least 2 years of experience in a specialty or emergency setting preferred for individuals working the overnight or swing shift.
- Ability to work in a team environment with a high focus on customer service, maintaining a professional demeanor in a fast-paced environment.
- Detail-oriented with the ability to promote a welcoming atmosphere.
- Ability to speak Spanish considered an asset.
The work environment is fast-paced and dynamic, with a moderate noise level. The individual must be able to work in a constant state of alertness and safe manner, with regular, predictable, in-person attendance.
