Job Summary

Scrap Metal Services, LLC is seeking a skilled Torch Operator to join our team. As a Torch Operator, you will be responsible for cutting scrap metal materials into prescribed sizes using a handheld torch in a designated area.

Key Responsibilities

  • Operate a handheld torch to cut scrap metal materials
  • Inspect cutting equipment to ensure proper functioning
  • Follow safety procedures to prevent damage to equipment and personal injury
  • Assess and distinguish between varying types of scrap metal material
  • Knowledge of safe cutting and related torch burning activities
  • Perform routine maintenance on cutting equipment
  • Work in a scrap yard environment, adhering to safety requirements

Requirements

Must pass employee physical and drug screen.

Physical Demands

  • Ability to walk more than 1000 yards
  • Stand for extended periods
  • Ability to lift and carry no more than 50 lbs.
  • Climb stairs and/or ladders
  • Perform manual labor tasks

Working Conditions

Work in a scrap yard environment, exposed to heat, rain, and other hazards.

Hazards

Heat, rain, fire, burns, falls, noise, and inhalation.
