Claims Specialist

Liberty Mutual Insurance is seeking a highly skilled Senior Claims Specialist to join our team. As a key member of our Claims Team, you will be responsible for reviewing, analyzing, and processing complex claims. Your expertise will be essential in making decisions about liability, evaluating losses, negotiating settlements, and managing an inventory of commercial property/casualty claims.
Responsibilities
- Investigate claims, interview insureds, witnesses, and claimants, and collect and evaluate documentation to determine liability and compensability.
- Determine the need for independent adjusters, cause and origin experts, and independent medical examiners.
- Assess policy coverage and notify insureds of any issues.
- Determine and establish reserve requirements and adjust reserves as necessary.
- Negotiate settlements within assigned authority limits.
- Coordinate litigation activities to ensure timely and cost-effective resolution.
- Act as a senior technical professional, assisting team members with escalated issues and mentoring new team members.
Requirements
- Excellent interpersonal skills to communicate and negotiate with customers.
- Demonstrated leadership ability and time management skills to delegate work and organize resources effectively.
- Expert-level knowledge of claims case handling practices, legal liability, general insurance policy coverage, and state tort laws.
- 4-6 years of directly related work experience, with at least two years in a team leader capacity.
