Position Overview

The Cashier will assist customers in selecting and purchasing merchandise while ensuring a smooth transaction process. Responsibilities include operating a cash register, handling monetary transactions, preparing receipts, and balancing the cash drawer. The Cashier will also manage bank deposits and respond to customer inquiries, including those related to donations.

Key Responsibilities

1. Provide excellent customer service by assisting shoppers with their purchases.
2. Operate and maintain the cash register, ensuring accurate cash handling.
3. Count change and prepare receipts while balancing the cash register drawer.
4. Maintain cleanliness and organization of the sales floor and cash register area.
5. Answer store telephone inquiries in a polite and professional manner.

Qualifications

1. High School diploma or G.E.D. preferred.
2. Previous experience in a retail environment is advantageous.
3. Strong mathematical skills and the ability to communicate effectively in English.

Physical Requirements

1. Ability to meet attendance requirements.
2. Capability to operate a cash register and perform basic mathematical calculations.
3. Generally, limited physical effort is required, with tasks involving sitting, standing, and light lifting (typically less than 50 lbs).
