Inova Health System is seeking a highly skilled Medical Laboratory Scientist 2 to join our team at INOVA Loudoun Hospital-Cornwall. As a Medical Laboratory Scientist 2, you will play a critical role in ensuring the quality of specimens for laboratory testing, operating systems and methodologies to produce timely and accurate data, and participating in departmental development to enhance personal, team, and departmental growth.
Key Responsibilities:- Review technical activities for quality assurance and participate in laboratory preparation for self and onsite inspections.
- Follow site-specific Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) and instructions, and annually read SOP and document knowledge of contents.
- Perform required Quality Control (QC) measures, including corrective action and documentation, for all procedures and instrumentation.
- Act as a resource person/key operator for coworkers, customers, and patients for technical questions and demonstrate an expanded knowledge of technical and administrative tasks beyond normal technical operations.
- Report accurate results while minimizing the number of corrected reports not attributed to auto-verification or specimen conditions beyond technical control.
- Bachelor's degree in science from a college/university recognized by regional or national accreditation agency. Degree in Medical Laboratory Science or Medical Technology preferred.
- Successful completion of a NAACLS accredited MLS program, NAACLS or ABHES accredited MSL program, or a foreign medical laboratory science clinical training program within the last five years can be used in lieu of one year of full-time acceptable clinical experience.
- ASCP or AMT Board certification consistent with scope of responsibility to include MT, MLS, MLT, BB, SBB, C, H, M, SH, SCT, MB, SMB, SM, SC, and HEW.
