Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Environmental Sampling Analyst to join our team at Joint Research and Development, LLC. As an Environmental Sampling Analyst, you will be responsible for analyzing environmental and air samples for chemical contamination.

Key Responsibilities
  • Sample Analysis: Conduct quantitative analysis of chemical compounds in environmental and air samples.
  • Laboratory Operations: Operate and maintain laboratory equipment, including Gas and Liquid Chromatography, Mass Spectrometers, and perform basic maintenance and checks on common laboratory systems.
  • Data Management: Use Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS) software for managing analytical data.
  • Quality Assurance: Participate in laboratory proficiency testing activities and maintain QAQC records, including performance charts, control limits, and detection and reporting limits for analytical methods governing use of laboratory instrumentation.
  • Training and Development: Maintain operator manuals and procedures, providing training to new staff in the operation and use of Lab equipment and LIMS.
  • Compliance and Safety: Meticulously adhere to laboratory procedures, data management practices, and safety protocols in accordance with Laboratory Quality Assurance Plans and safety policies/regulations.
  • Support and Maintenance: Support formal audits of laboratory quality control systems and practices, the inspection of safety practices, and the review of Job Hazard Analyses.
  • Inventory Management: Maintain inventory of lab supplies.
Requirements
  • Education: Bachelor's Degree in Chemistry, Biochemistry, or similar from an accredited college or university.
  • Experience: More than 3 years of experience with quantitative analysis of chemical compounds, and 2 years' experience with screening environmental samples for toxic industrial compounds (TICs).
  • Skills and Qualifications: Must have demonstrated analytical laboratory skills as evidenced by participation in a Proficiency Test such as a Precision and Accuracy performance test or equivalent. Must have experience with quality management standards (e.g., ISO 17025 or similar), sample preparation methods, techniques, regulations, protocols, safety measures, and the operation and maintenance of chemical laboratory instrumentation. Working knowledge of Microsoft Office products, including Excel, Project, Word, Access, and Power Point. Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Security Clearance: Ability to obtain and maintain a secret security clearance.
