However, hours may vary. Evening, weekend, and additional hours may be necessary based on project needs. Travel will be essential to support the development of conventional generation initiatives. Overnight travel may also be required.

Overview:
Evergy is dedicated to spearheading the Responsible Portfolio Transition.

Our strategic plan emphasizes the addition of 3,600 MWs of renewable energy sources and 2,445 MWs of new conventional generating assets over the next decade.

Reporting to the Director of Conventional Generation Projects, the selected candidate will hold technical accountability for advancing conventional generation initiatives.

This role will focus on the control systems for plants and turbines, ensuring the safe, timely, cost-effective, and environmentally responsible execution of projects.

The projects will encompass various conventional generation technologies, including simple cycle and combined cycle combustion turbines.

The candidate will also have the chance to engage with cutting-edge technologies such as thermal storage and small-modular reactors.

The engineer will contribute to complex, multi-million-dollar capital projects that span multiple years and disciplines.

This position involves providing engineering assistance throughout the development, construction, and commissioning phases of steam and combustion turbines, as well as troubleshooting control system challenges.

Education and Experience Requirements:


A minimum of a Bachelor's degree in Engineering from an ABET accredited institution is required, along with at least 4 years of relevant engineering experience in the design, construction, and/or maintenance of power plant control systems.

Candidates must be open to working nights and weekends as necessary.

Additional Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities:
Proficiency in GE Mark VIe, Mitsubishi, Emerson Ovation, and/or Siemens T3000 control systems is essential.
Experience in troubleshooting operational issues with plant control systems is expected.
OEM certification is preferred. The ideal candidate will demonstrate high initiative, strong interpersonal skills, and proficient computer skills.

Licenses or Certificates Required:
A valid driver's license is mandatory.
A satisfactory work record, including good attendance, is required.

EIT or PE is preferred.

Working Conditions:
Candidates must be capable of performing the physical demands of the role. This position involves extensive on-site work in a plant environment, with some office responsibilities.

Outdoor work and exposure to industrial conditions, including temperature extremes, dusty or moist environments, climbing ladders and stairways, working at heights, and navigating confined spaces, are part of the job.

Travel to development sites is expected to be at least 10% of the time, potentially increasing to 100% during peak construction and commissioning phases.
