As a Cashier at Pumpkinland, your responsibilities will include handling transactions, organizing merchandise, and maintaining cleanliness to ensure an inviting atmosphere. You will enhance the shopping experience for our customers by collaborating with the team and providing top-notch service. We are looking for both weekday and weekend cashiers to join us throughout the Fall season.

Key Responsibilities:

• Welcome customers with a friendly attitude, ensuring excellent service.
• Accurately process transactions using a cash register or point-of-sale system.
• Assist in pricing and labeling products as necessary.
• Provide customers with information and assistance regarding garden center products, including plants and tools.
• Work closely with team members and communicate effectively with management.
• Offer feedback to management regarding products, inventory discrepancies, and general concerns.
• Follow cash handling policies and procedures to minimize losses.
• Stay informed about current promotions and events in the garden center.
• Adhere to company policies while maintaining the confidentiality of documents and data.
• Perform general cleaning duties to meet company standards.
• Other responsibilities as assigned.

Physical Requirements:

• Ability to stock merchandise and place products weighing up to 45 pounds on shelves at various heights.
• Regularly required to sit, stand, bend, reach, push, pull, lift, carry, and walk throughout the store.
• Must be able to perform duties with or without reasonable accommodation.

Qualifications:

• Strong interpersonal, communication, and customer service skills.
• Reliability and a commitment to high personal integrity.
• Availability to work evenings, weekends, and holidays (weekends required).
• Preferred: Minimum of two years of retail experience.
• Required: Minimum of two years of cashier experience.
• Attention to detail and ability to maintain a tidy workspace.
• Ability to provide prompt and courteous service.
• Organizational skills and the ability to multi-task effectively.
• Availability on weekdays in the afternoon.

Education and Experience:

• Prior experience in a retail setting is preferred.
• A combination of education and experience that provides equivalent knowledge.
