Job Title: Travel Nurse RN Preoperative

Tact Staff is seeking a skilled travel nurse RN preoperative to join our team in Gonzales, Texas.

Job Summary:

We are looking for a dedicated and experienced registered nurse to provide high-quality patient care in the preoperative setting. As a travel nurse RN preoperative, you will be responsible for circulating in the OR, participating in setting standards for patient care and nursing practice, and ensuring all necessary logs and documentation are current and accurate.

Responsibilities:
  • Circulate in the OR and participate in surgical procedures
  • Set standards for patient care and nursing practice in the surgery department
  • Take OR call to ensure coverage at all times
  • Document patient records accurately and completely
  • Maintain proficiency in aseptic technique and autoclave instruments as necessary
  • Provide care to patients of all ages, including neonates, pediatric, adolescent, and geriatric patients
  • Inventory and order supplies and equipment as needed
  • Set up and maintain the PACU, including stocking supplies and completing daily checks of emergency equipment
  • Prep patients for surgery according to physician orders
  • Initiate IV lines and complete pre-op teaching and anesthesia assessments
  • Recover patients post-op and initiate recovery per accepted PACU standards of care
  • Transport patients to and from the OR and PACU as needed
Requirements:
  • Current RN licensure in the state of Texas
  • Experience in preoperative nursing
  • Ability to work 12-hour shifts and 36 hours per week
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive patient information
