Position Overview:
Embody the Core Values as established by the management team. The primary objective for all positions at Ace Hardware is to Delight Every Customer Every Time. Sales associates are tasked with engaging customers, identifying their needs, and anticipating their requirements.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Assist in unloading incoming shipments and organizing merchandise as directed by management.

Maintain Your Assigned Area:
Ensure cleanliness, organization, and full stock levels.

  • Execute daily operational goals and priorities set by store management, demonstrating a sense of urgency while attending to details.
  • Collaborate effectively with team members, actively participating in daily meetings and sharing improvement ideas with management.
  • Remove promotional tags from displays and price tags as necessary following sales events.
  • Restock merchandise displays as required and monitor end caps and side displays.
  • Assist in managing back stock levels.
  • Handle special orders for non-stock items, ensuring to consult with a floor manager before denying any customer requests.
  • Monitor for shoplifting and take appropriate action according to company policy, as excellent customer service can deter theft.
  • Provide exceptional service to every customer by being helpful, knowledgeable, and approachable.
  • When not assisting customers or tidying up, position yourself in a main aisle to observe incoming customers and ensure they receive assistance.
  • Serve customers in assigned departments or throughout the store, offering advice and information, and greeting customers promptly.
  • Demonstrate the S.A.L.E.S. process effectively.
  • Actively engage in in-store communication and initiatives (e.g., Communication Board, Daily Huddle, store contests).
  • Address simple customer complaints and concerns, involving a manager when necessary.
  • Utilize the Five Foot Rule to greet and acknowledge all customers within five feet of you consistently.
  • Always maintain a polite and attentive demeanor towards customers, making eye contact and smiling.
  • Promote the Ace Rewards program to all customers, explaining the Ace Helpful Promise(s) and utilizing the Magic Question.
  • Stay informed about all promotions and advertisements to inform customers about special sales.
  • Wear your radio and headset at all times for effective communication with team members and management.
  • Respond to Customer Coordinator inquiries as needed.
  • Assist customers with large or heavy items as required.
  • Offer customers a shopping basket for convenience.
  • Participate in the training and development of fellow associates.

Required Skills and Qualifications:
  • Strong communication skills to interact professionally with customers and team members.
  • Proven ability to deliver prompt, friendly, and attentive customer service.
  • Excellent organizational skills with a keen attention to detail.
  • Willingness to learn all areas of the store and assist in training others.
  • Demonstrated history of being a team player.
  • Knowledge and experience in various departments are highly desirable.
  • Consistent pattern of regular and punctual attendance is essential.
  • Flexible availability, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
  • Certification or experience in a trade related to the department is preferred.

Physical Requirements:
  • The minimum physical requirements for this position include:
  • Ability to stand for extended periods, walk, reach, and bend to perform job duties.
  • Capability to move and handle merchandise weighing up to 40 pounds and manage fixtures throughout the store.
