Westhab Inc. is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Recreation Specialist to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for creating and implementing recreational activities for individuals living within our homeless shelter.
Key Responsibilities- Develop and implement age-appropriate activities and programs to promote social skills and academic development.
- Work collaboratively with the Program Director to ensure that all activities meet the needs of the clients and are delivered in a safe and supportive environment.
- Document monthly participation and outcomes, analyze results, and prepare recommendations for program improvement.
- Maintain a clean and well-maintained recreational space, adhering to proper safety standards.
- Participate in initial training, ongoing staff development, and supervision to ensure compliance with agency policies and procedures.
- High School Diploma/GED required; College degree preferred.
- Previous experience working with children and/or young adults is essential.
- Experience working with low-income populations is preferred.
- Must possess an upbeat and engaging personality, with the ability to work effectively with youth who may present academic and social deficits.
- Program hours include afternoons, evenings, some weekends, and holidays.
- Must be computer savvy and possess a valid NYS Driver's License.
- Must be able to pass child abuse screening and criminal background check.
