Guidehouse is seeking a highly skilled Library Technician/Paraprofessional to join our team as a Digital Collections Specialist. In this role, you will play a critical part in organizing, cataloging, and maintaining our digital library materials, while supporting digital collections enhancement projects.
Key Responsibilities- Collection Management: Assist in the organization, cataloging, and maintenance of digital library materials, ensuring accurate and efficient metadata management.
- Digital Collections Enhancement: Support the digitization of print and multimedia resources, collaborating with digital librarians to improve access to digital collections.
- Reference and Research Assistance: Provide expert reference and research assistance to library users, utilizing your knowledge of digital collections and metadata standards.
- Circulation Services: Help manage circulation services and maintain borrower records, ensuring seamless library operations.
- Interlibrary Loan Requests: Prepare and process interlibrary loan requests, facilitating access to external resources.
- Library Reports and Statistics: Assist with library reports, statistics, and events, providing valuable insights for data-driven decision-making.
- Physical Condition of Library Materials: Maintain the physical condition of library materials, ensuring their longevity and accessibility.
- Education: Bachelor's degree in Library Sciences or a related field, or an Associate's degree with an additional two years of experience.
- Experience: Minimum of two years of experience in a library setting, with expertise in digital collections, metadata standards, and cataloging processes.
- Skills: Proficiency in using library management software and office applications, with experience in emerging technologies in library cataloging systems and databases.
- Digital Collections Enhancement Experience: Experience with digital collections enhancement projects and knowledge of digital asset management systems.
- Certifications: Additional certifications in Library Science, Information Technology, or Data Science.
- Preservation and Conservation Techniques: Knowledge of basic preservation and conservation techniques.
- Workflow Development: Interest in developing new workflows and technology solutions for digital collections.
