Job Title: Patient Care Advocate
Job Summary:
Mt. Laurel Animal Hospital is seeking a skilled Veterinary Technician to serve as a Patient Care Advocate. This role is responsible for facilitating a smooth operation between veterinarians, vet assistants, vet techs, and client service representatives.
Key Responsibilities:
- Communicate effectively with all levels of staff and understand the needs and requests of both internal and external clients.
- Complete critical follow-up calls and assist in determining what constitutes a critical follow-up alert.
- Communicate with clients regarding the medical status of their pets.
- Call owners with normal bloodwork results.
- Assist in filtering notes from doctors.
- Be familiar with hospital protocols, common side effects of medications, and common treatment plans.
- Be familiar with commonly used products.
- Assist doctors with client communication when the doctor is not available.
- Make triage decisions quickly and decisively.
Requirements:
- Two or more years of experience in veterinary medicine.
- CVT/VTS Certification a plus.
- Proficiency in EMR and Cubex systems or ability to quickly acclimate.
- Familiarity with navigating medical records to guide clients in next steps.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
- Self-motivated and able to direct staff and take direction.
- Organized and excellent time management skills.
- Critical thinking and problem-solving skills required.
Physical Requirements:
This job is physically active and requires frequent bending and standing for long periods of time. Flexible work schedule with a commitment to work nights, weekends, and holidays as requested.
