Patent Agent Role at Larson Maddox

Larson Maddox is seeking a skilled Patent Agent to protect technological innovations and contribute to the company's Intellectual Property (IP) team. The successful candidate will play a crucial role in preparing, filing, and prosecuting patent applications, requiring a deep understanding of patent law, strong technical expertise, and excellent communication skills.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Prepare and file patent applications in the United States and internationally, ensuring timely and accurate submissions.
  • Conduct thorough patent searches and analyze prior art to assess patentability, providing valuable insights to the team.
  • Collaborate with inventors, engineers, and other stakeholders to gather technical information and ensure comprehensive patent applications.
  • Prosecute patent applications, including responding to office actions and communicating with patent examiners, to achieve successful outcomes.
  • Manage and maintain a portfolio of patents, ensuring timely payment of maintenance fees and addressing any legal issues that arise.
  • Provide strategic advice on IP matters, including patentability, infringement, and freedom-to-operate analyses, to support business decisions.
  • Stay current with changes in patent laws and regulations, ensuring compliance with all relevant legal requirements.
  • Assist in IP due diligence for mergers, acquisitions, and other business transactions, providing valuable expertise to the team.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant technical field (e.g., Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Mechanical Engineering, etc.).
  • Registered Patent Agent with the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO).
  • Minimum of 1+ years of experience in patent preparation and prosecution, with a strong understanding of patent laws, regulations, and procedures.
