Job Summary

Memorial Hermann Health System is seeking a highly skilled Senior Medical Technologist to join our team in the Microbiology department. This is a 7 on/7 off evening shift position that requires strong experience in laboratory testing and procedures.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform and document laboratory tests and procedures according to technical policy and procedure.
  • Oversee and evaluate the performance of testing, quality control, maintenance, and procedures for assigned area.
  • Prepare monthly quality summary reports documenting the performance of instruments, quality control, linearity, service visits, and clinical service issues.
  • Evaluate and maintain technical procedures as appropriate to the department/facility.
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory standards associated with governing and accrediting agencies.
  • Teach, assess competency, mentor, and precept laboratory employees and students in technical procedures and policies.
  • Provide input into Medical Technologists' initial, six-month, and annual training, performance appraisals, and annual competency.
  • Demonstrate leadership and promote quality patient care and customer service/satisfaction.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in a biological science required (equivalency required for foreign education).
  • Medical Technologist (ASCP) or Medical Technologist (AMT) certification.
  • Two years of pertinent experience in a high complexity laboratory in the assigned/specified area.
