With over 1200 employees and more than 70 program locations across Nassau and Suffolk, ACLD is committed to assisting children, teens, and adults in attaining the highest levels of independence while pursuing their aspirations.

We are looking for enthusiastic and driven individuals who are passionate about making a significant difference in the lives of those we support. This role offers a rewarding opportunity to work in a residential environment, aiding adults diagnosed with intellectual and developmental disabilities in their journey towards self-sufficiency and personal growth.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support residents in achieving and surpassing their personal objectives
  • Provide emotional support and a structured environment
  • Assist in managing behavioral challenges
  • Help individuals with personal hygiene and daily living activities
  • Maintain accurate and thorough documentation
  • Transport participants to medical appointments and recreational activities using agency vehicles

Qualifications:

  • Valid NYS Driver's license
  • High School diploma or equivalent
  • Experience with individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities is preferred; training will be provided
  • Cooking and light housekeeping duties may be required
  • Must obtain and maintain AMAP and SCIP certifications within six months of hire
  • Previous roles as Caregiver, Personal Assistant, Resident Assistant, Direct Care Worker, Nursing Assistant, Home Care Aide, or Companion are advantageous
