JOB SUMMARY

This position is within the Plant family (Department), encompassing roles that involve overseeing or executing tasks related to metals processing and distribution within the American Council on Exercise. The work entails operating specialized equipment and supporting functions, necessitating a practical understanding of the operations, materials, facilities, and methods utilized in metals processing and distribution.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Primarily accountable for executing basic, routine tasks following detailed instructions.
  • Responsible for managing inventory or equipment, fulfilling customer orders, retrieving materials from storage, unloading incoming shipments, loading vehicles, and assisting in maintaining warehouse cleanliness.
  • Receives and organizes items into designated stock inventory locations.
  • Pulls and compiles orders based on work or shipping documentation.
  • Labels materials for accurate identification and completes all necessary paperwork.
  • Transfers materials from receiving or production areas to storage or other specified locations using forklifts, side loaders, or cranes.
  • Operates yard trucks for loading and unloading trailers.
  • Keeps the work area clean, safe, and orderly.
  • Sorts and organizes materials on racks, shelves, or bins according to predetermined sequences such as size, type, or product code.
  • Conducts inventory spot checks and performs daily or ad hoc checks for proper tagging of materials as directed.
  • Reports any discrepancies to the supervisor for guidance.
  • Restocks materials as needed.
  • Ensures compliance with applicable safety and quality standards.

Required Skills

  • Effective oral and written communication skills, with a focus on legible handwriting.
  • Demonstrated manual dexterity, finger dexterity, arm-hand steadiness, and multi-limb coordination.
  • Ability to read and understand written instructions as they apply to work situations.
  • Basic measurement skills, including the ability to take, convert, and utilize measurements of length, width, height, and weight for basic math computations.
  • Basic arithmetic skills for calculating and converting decimals and fractions.
  • Capability to multi-task, prioritize, and manage time efficiently.

Required Experience

  • 0-5 years of relevant experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience that provides the necessary knowledge, skills, and abilities.
  • High School diploma/GED preferred.
  • Experience in warehousing and material handling is preferred.
  • Must be able to obtain certification for operating all required motorized material handling and rigging equipment.
