Join Our Team as a Veterinary Student Intern

At AbbVie, we're committed to discovering and delivering innovative medicines and solutions that address serious health issues. As a second-year veterinary student, you'll have the opportunity to work alongside passionate colleagues and inspirational leaders in a dynamic organization.

This internship is designed to provide you with hands-on experience in laboratory animal care and research. You'll work alongside clinical veterinarians and participate in all aspects of laboratory animal care, including standard care, common diseases, and animal handling techniques.

During your internship, you'll have the opportunity to rotate with subject matter experts and take a deep dive into all areas of lab animal medicine, including behavioral management, anatomic and clinical pathology, and animal handling techniques.

One of the unique aspects of this internship is the opportunity to spend 1-2 weeks at the University of Illinois, Chicago, where you'll experience academic research models and work with a variety of species, including mini pigs, rabbits, and baboons.

This internship is based in North Chicago, IL, and offers a competitive salary, travel, transportation, and lodging support, as well as select wellness benefits and paid holiday/sick time.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Clinical management of cases
  • Husbandry duties, including basic care of animals and enrichment needs
  • Clinical or scientific research project with a presentation at end of internship

Qualifications:

  • Currently enrolled in university, pursuing a Doctorate in Veterinary Medicine
  • Must be enrolled in university during the internship period
  • Completed 2nd year of veterinary program
